Movers by score tier (37)

We group movers into tiers instead of naming a single #1, because small differences in public data don't make one mover better for your move. Within each tier, movers with more roadside inspections (more data behind the score) come first, then those active longer. Movers with fewer than 3 vehicle or fewer than 3 driver inspections in 24 months are shown separately as limited data: their score is listed but rests on less information, so we don't place them in a tier.

Score 90–100 (4)

Score 75–89 (8)

Score Under 75 (7)

Limited inspection data (18)

Always confirm a mover's USDOT number on SAFER and get a written estimate before you sign. VettedMover is not a mover or a broker and does not arrange moves.

How the VettedMover score works

This score is VettedMover's own calculation from public government data. It is not an FMCSA rating, not an endorsement, and not a guarantee of any mover's service. No mover pays to be listed, to be ranked, or to change its score.

Who is included: the 37 California- and Texas-based movers on our California to Texas list whose USDOT status is ACTIVE and who hold FMCSA household-goods authority on the day we pulled the data.

What goes in (100 points)

Missing data

If a mover has fewer than 3 vehicle or driver inspections in 24 months, we show that out-of-service rate as unavailable and score the safety part on the items we do have. If a whole part is unavailable, the total is rescaled from the parts we have. We never fill gaps with guesses.
